Black Panther
I watched the Marvel Superhero movie, Black Panther last weekend. The movie was released in the President’s Day weekend, it crossed the box office record of $200 million in the weekend. I went on the Monday morning show. There were long queues at the theatre, and tickets were sold out for that show. Luckily, we had reserved tickets online.
I like Marvel superhero movies, Iron Man is my favorite. I also like others. When I went for the Black Panther movie, I didn’t have high expectations, but, when I came out, I was debating over who is my new favorite. The movie was really cool.
The story happens in Wakanda, a fictional country in Africa. The outside world views Wakanda as a third-world country, but in reality, Wakanda is much more technologically advanced than any country in the world due to their rich source of the super metal, Vibranium. Wakanda didn’t share it with the rest of the world thinking that this super metal would go into the wrong hands, they only use it for peaceful purposes for advancing their technology.
Like other countries, Wakanda sends spies to important countries around the world. The spy in the U.S happened to be Wakanda’s king’s brother who was all for sharing Vibranium with the rest of the world. He assisted black-market arms dealers to get access to the Vibranium. The president, who was the black panther at the time, confronted him and, in the process, killed him. Then, he committed a mistake to leave his brother’s son, Eric Kilmonger alone in Oakland, California.
After the death of the king, his son T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) becomes the king and the new black panther. His cousin, Eric Kilmonger (Michael B. Jordan), who grew up in America, learned more about his father’s death. He wanted to take revenge and come back to take control over Wakanda and it’s Vibranium resources.
The movie has many fast car chases and special effects which made it very impressive. Chadwick Boseman and Michael B. Jordan gave an excellent performance. T’Challa’s sister, Shuri (Letitia Wright) made the screen very lively. Baku (Winston Duke), a tribe’s chief was very funny.
IMDb gives a score of 7.9/10 now, I will give a score of 8.9/10.
